Understanding brush types

- [Instructor] Let's take a look at the different brush types in GIMP. The first is called an ordinary brush and this type of brush applies copies of a simple picture as you brush. And you can change the color that's applied by picking a different foreground color. So I'll take the paint brush tool, and reset the tool options just to be sure I'm using the defaults. And in the brush menu, if I switch to List View and increase the preview size, we can see which ones are ordinary brushes a little better. These are the ones with no colored triangle and these triangles are very tiny so they can be hard to see, but they're in the bottom right corner of the brush preview and they're either blue or red. So there's a blue one, there's a red one, and the ones with no colored triangle are things like charcoal, cell, bristles, and so on. So I'm going to take one of these brushes. I'll take Charcoal 01 and set the size to something large so it's easy to see like 200. And then click a few times on…
