Using perspective

- [Instructor] You might think that applying a 3D perspective effect to part of an image in Gimp would be a complicated task. Actually, it's relatively straightforward, but it can involve some guesswork. In our Exercise File for this movie we have two layers with an image of an office and a poster for space travel. So let's use the Perspective tool to make the poster look like it's hanging on the wall in the office. I'll start by hiding the layer boundary by going to the View menu and deselecting Show Layer Boundary. Then I'll take the Perspective tool, which you can get from the Toolbox or use its keyboard shortcut, Shift + P, and click on the layer. Notice that there are no controls in the dialog box that I can use to set the amount and angle of the effect. I only see the transformation matrix values which really aren't all that helpful and you can't choose between one, two, or three point perspective or work with much precision.
