Exercise: Plan your character system

- [Instructor] Character systems are at the heart of many video games. After all, it's through the character that players see, explore, and experience the world. In this video, we'll explore the creation of a character system for your game world. For the sake of this exercise, we'll explore the character system on three different levels: external, internal, and growth. From an external perspective, we're concerned with the character's looks and how he or she is perceived in the world. From an internal level, we're concerned with how the character works under the hood, so to speak. These are the mathematical inner workings of the character. From a growth perspective, we're concerned with how your character will progress in the world. So, with that in mind, we first need to think of a game world. The world the character inhabits affects everything about them. Remember, this is just an exercise, so any world is fine. To choose a world, I generally think of a place and a time period. For…
