Exploring a character system

- [Lecturer] Think of the last time you played a game with a character in the world. If you played an RPG or other skill based game, did your character grow in skills and become stronger? Did you identify with your character? Are you someone who happens to have a high level character in World of Warcraft or another game? If you answered yes, you certainly know what a character system is, at least from experience. As game designers, we hope the players will identify with, and connect strongly to their characters. My questions highlight the goals of a character system, and the desires of game designers to create immersive experiences through them. In this video, we'll take a closer look at those systems that create that kind of attachment. So, first off, what's in a character system?
