From the course: Game Design Foundations: 3 Pitch, Propose, and Practice

Welcome

- [Brenda] Hi, I'm Brenda Romero and I've been making games for over 30 years now, it's absolutely my passion and I'm glad you're joining me for this third course on game design. One of the most common questions I get\ is how do you document your game and exactly what is a game design document anyway? Well, it's a lot of things. It goes from the basic idea of the game, a game pitch, a game proposal, many people will say that the game itself is a living design document and it absolutely is, that's where you see if your ideas are really bearing fruit. In this third course on game design, I'm going to present you with a detailed look of game design documents and then we'll talk about things you can do to get better at game design and get yourself into the game industry. We'll start by taking a look at the idea, pitching a game. Then, we'll move on to how you can document your game design idea and think about the various ways that that's done. Then we'll move into what you can do to get yourself ready for the game industry. We'll talk about making games right now and how games take time and practice. We'll take a look at the difference between making games as an indie and making games in the game industry. And then, we'll go through an exercise that helps you think in terms of researching your dream job. So, I hope you're ready for it. Let's go.
