Customize the guitar sound
- One of the main advantages of using Garage Band's virtual guitar amps, is that you can change the sound of the guitar even after you've recorded it. When you mic a real guitar amp, the sound you record is determined by the settings of the amp, the type of speaker cabinet the amp is driving, the microphone you're using, where that microphone is placed, and the guitar itself. And you're more or less committed to the sound you capture. Now, yes you can make changes to the EQ, and apply other plugins or effects to a recorded guitar amp, but you can't really change the overall sound itself in any major way. But when you use Garage Band's built in amp modlers, you not only have access to an incredible collection of virtual amps that emulate the sounds of some of the most popular and iconic guitar amps in music history, but you're free to customize and dial in your guitar sound before, during, and after recording your tracks.
