- [Instructor] In the earlier chapter on working with software instruments. I explained that one of the advantages of working with software instruments is that you can easily fix timing issues by either manually or automatically moving the notes that might have been played ahead or behind the beat, this process is called quantizing and because software instrument recordings are simply MIDI data it's easy to just rewrite that data when we need to. But when working with real instruments you're often locked into what you recorded. We've seen that, at least in the case of using the built-in guitar or base amps, you can still change the sound of the instrument pretty easily. But you wouldn't think that it would be very easy to change the timing of a recorded real instrument. But if you have a recording in which you came in late or jumped the gun a bit, but otherwise you're happy with that recording, there are in fact a couple of things you can to do fix the timing of the performance, on a…
