- [Instructor] Now let's take a look at how you actually record a softer instrument in GarageBand. I'm gonna record a basic electric piano part here using the classical electrical piano default instrument. And I'm just gonna record a very brief chord progression just to show you how GarageBand records softer instruments. First of all, when you record in GarageBand, keeping in time with the tempo you set is very important, especially if you plan on adding loops to your song later or if you think you might be changing the tempo of the song. If you're not in sync with GarageBand's tempo, you'll be all out of sync with every loop you add and your song will sound like a mess. To help you keep time, GarageBand has a built-in metronome to help click-off beats for you. Whenever you create a new project, the metronome is on by default, as it is here.
