Set input levels

- [Instructor] Okay we have one more very important step before we start recording, we need to set up our audio levels. Good levels are one of the keys to great sounding recordings. You want to set your levels so that your instrument is loud enough to work with but not so loud that it starts distorting or to use the proper terminology, clipping. When a signal coming into your computer is too loud for the audio input device to handle it clips, and generally sounds pretty bad. Usually it sounds distorted and not in a cool electric guitar distortion way, it usually sounds more like digital distortion. But you also don't want your audio levels to be too quiet, you can turn up quiet performances to some extent but you also end up turning up the inherent background noises, along with it.
