Set input levels

- [Instructor] Alright, so we have one more very important step before we start recording. We need to set our audio levels. Good levels are one of the keys to great sounding recordings. You want your levels so that your instrument is loud enough to work with but not so loud that it starts distorting or, to use the proper terminology, clipping. When the signal coming into your computer is too loud for the audio device to handle, it clips and generally sounds pretty bad. It usually sounds distorted and not in a cool, electric guitar distortion kind of way. It sounds more like digital distortion. But you also don't want your audio levels to be too quiet. You can turn up quiet performances to some extent but you also end up turning up the inherent background noises along with it. So, for this example, I'm gonna set the levels for a guitar track.
