System administration with Git

- [Grant] Being able to analyze all changes to a file or revert to any previous version is a powerful skill to have. In this course, we use Git, an open source distributed version control system to track operating system configuration files. We analyze the changes made to files and revert back to previous versions. We also create a remote git repository so we can push our files offsite as a simple backup. Using a third party tool, we work our way through some real-world exercises to put Linux system configuration files under version control including storing metadata. We also track user files, ignore entire directors, and manage an Apache web DocumentRoot. Lastly, we use SSH keys for authentication so we can do password list git commits. I'm Grant McWilliams, computer science instructor and Linux enthusiast. Join me now in my course, Git for System Administration. Let's get started.
