- [Instructor] Before jumping in to creating your online course, you should take a thorough look at your current course as you teach it in classroom. This means evaluating your syllabus in terms of units of study, major topics, lectures, projects, assignments, quizzes, tests, and more. Most of all, it means thinking about how each element contributes to your learning goals. Don't try to think yet about how you're going to translate each element into the online environment. Right now, you're just taking stock of everything, laying out all of the raw materials, so that you have a high level view of all the elements that make up your course. Getting all of this in order will allow you to make a course map of sorts. This lets you look at the entire arc of the course, so that you can get a sense of how topics scaffold into one another, how things flow, and how each element meets your micro and macro level learning goals.…
