- [Instructor] When teaching online, I highly recommend that you provide your students with predictability. This is a lesson I learned the hard way when I first started teaching online. Now I'm a strong believer that online learning can be as effective, if not more effective, than in-person learning, but there are some potential drawbacks. Probably one of the most significant is that you and your students don't get to see each other very often where you can stay updated and informed through casual conversations. Also, taking a course online can be a lonely and intimidating feeling for students. Through a lot of trial and error and interviewing students, I've found that this can be alleviated by providing students with predictability. Here are four keys to providing predictability.
