- [Instructor] When populating your online course with valuable content, you need to decide which activities will be synchronous and which will be asynchronous. Here, I'd like to talk about the benefits and logistics of synchronous learning. Synchronous learning simply means that you interact with your students or they interact with one another in a specific virtual space at a specific time via livestream lectures, live guest speakers, webinars, videoconferencing, live chatting, and more. In general, synchronous learning is the most analogous to face-to-face instruction. It lets you bring dynamic personal engagement into your class discussions. You'll get to know your students, and they'll get to know you and each other. It lets you explore topics with more depth by checking in with your learners to gauge interest and understanding.
