- [Instructor] When building and managing an online course, it's easy to rely on videos and readings where the students need to memorize information and then regurgitate it for an online multiple-choice assessment. Most learning management systems will even grade the quiz for you and then enter it into the system, but this isn't good enough. As the instructor and the instructional designer of your course, it's important to find ways to engage students in higher-order thinking. When doing this, consider Bloom's Taxonomy. Here the steps at the bottom of the pyramid represent lower-level thinking skills, such as remember and understand, which can be assessed through multiple-choice questions.
