- [Instructor] So why is performance important in the world of machine learning? Well, if it takes too long for the predictions to be made, out of the model, and leveraging the test data, then it's not going to have the value! And so, specifically if we're supporting transactional business applications, the performance has to be there. In other words, if the application makes the request to the machine learning system, the proper response has to be returned in a reasonable amount of time. So, on Google Cloud Platform, we're dealing with not only the performance of the machine learning-based system, but the platform itself, the platform that we're operating upon. So we have to deal with certain limitations in terms of how quickly it's going to take to execute the model, and that really comes down to the complexity of the model.
