How to build firewall rules

- [Narrator] Configuring firewall rules enable you to either allow or deny network traffic connections to and from your virtual machines based on your specific needs. Put simply, firewall rules take action in the form of an allow or deny on the traffic attempting to flow in and out of your network. These rules can be defined based on a certain type of traffic or protocol or even ports. It is possible to create or modify these rules using either Google Cloud Console, the gcloud command-line tools or using REST API. Here are some key notes to understand when it comes to firewall rules. First, enable firewall rules are stateful and always enforced. What this means is that any connection allowed through the firewall in one direction will have its returning traffic allowed as well. Additionally, regardless of your operating system, any configurations you make on your virtual machine or even if that virtual machine is turned on or off, these firewall rules will always be enforced.
