What is Google IoT Core?

- [Instructor] In the last video, we all saw some of the challenges that are introduced when trying to scale IoT applications. The challenges lie not only in managing dispersed IoT devices but also securing communications, ingesting telemetry data, and providing insight through analytics. Google IoT Core comes in to help address these issues. Cloud IoT Core is a fully managed service that allows you to easily and securely connect, manage, and ingest data from millions of globally dispersed devices. Cloud IoT Core in combination with other cloud IoT platform services provides a complete solution for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing IoT data in real-time. This helps to support improved operational efficiency. Cloud Pub/Sub messaging protocols are used behind the scenes to aggregate your dispersed data into a single system that integrates with Google Cloud data analytic services. The solution allows you to use your IoT data stream for advanced analytics, visualizations, machine learning and more to improve operational efficiency, anticipate problems, and build models to help describe and optimize your business. From a security perspective, you're able to securely connect millions of devices through protocol endpoints that use automatic load balancing and horizontal scaling to ensure data ingestion is smooth even under intensive loads. Cloud IoT Core supports MQTT and the HTTP protocols and runs on serverless infrastructure that scales and responds to real-time changes. It also adheres to stringent industry standard protocols that protect your business data. With Cloud IoT Core, you can centrally manage your entire IoT data network from a single pane of glass. The platform have well-supported code libraries and also works out-of-the-box with devices from many leading hardware manufacturers. The Cloud IoT provisioning service, which is an early access, allows you to perform hassle-free device provisioning using tamper-resistant hardware-based security known as crypto chip, or Secure Element. This allows provisioning millions of devices right to Cloud IoT Core without human intervention. From an analytic perspective, after IoT data is ingested in the platform, tooling can be used to help make sense of the data. BigQuery can be used for fast querying and integration to your data warehouse. Cloud DataFlow can be leveraged for streaming and batch analytics. Data Studio is another tool that can be used to visualize telemetry and state data. And finally, Cloud ML Engine can be used to train, deploy, and run machine learning models on your IoT data. This is just a subset of all the tooling that is available as part of the Google IoT Core platform.
