Google Tag Manager and Firebase for mobile apps
- [Instructor] Tagging works differently on mobile. Unlike the web where Google Tag Manager adds the vendor code directly to your site, on mobile, all tracking is in the back-end via APIs. So, if you're using Google Tag Manager on your website, Google Tag Manager will actually inject the Facebook ads, Twitter ads, Google ads code, into the website and it would run in the browser. On mobile apps there is no browser, so that data has to instead be sent via API calls say through Google Tag Manager to those different vendors. The other major difference with mobile versus web, is that it's much harder to track the marketing source. Unlike the web where you can use UTM parameters for example, utm_source, on iOS no marketing source is passed through the Apple App Store, you have to use different methods to attribute.
