Understanding triggers

- [Instructor] Triggers or the way that we instruct tag manager when and under what circumstances a tag should be fired. A tag will remain dormant until a trigger instructs that tag to execute. And it's our job when configuring these triggers to ensure the tags only execute when they're needed. So let's take a closer look at the AdWords conversion tracking tag that we created in the last chapter. Head over here to tags. And we see here under firing triggers, it says all pages. Now the problem with this tag is because it's going to fire on all pages, when in reality, we really only want to put conversion tracking code on pages that indicate a conversion happen such as thank you page after a shopping cart or a form submission success page that might happen after you submit a form. The way we have it now, it's going to fire that tag on every single page. And so it will count a conversion on every single page, including the…
