Gestalt techniques: Isomorphism

- Hi everyone, John McWade. What we're looking at this time is a business card that was sent in by a reader who was trying to design around a logo and workstation having difficulty with that. Designing around a logo is typically not a good idea. So what we're going to do is redesign her card using a gestalt technique of isomorphic correspondence or isomorphism and show you how the logo fits in with that. Let's have a look. Here's her card in close up and you can kind of see what she's done. The logo is over there on the left. She's added a cup and a fork in the same colors as the logo. The copy, of course, is all on the right in that Hoyt rectangular space. She was trying to work to the logo. Her problem being is that she doesn't really like the logo. It looks like this. And this is actually not bad image. The name is very long. It's going to be a very difficult name to work with. But the shape is a very familiar one, kind of a round puffy top, a little whimsical wisp of steam coming…
