- Logo design is such a precise practice, exactly because a mark has to completely speak for itself. There's no room to attach a preamble or an explanation as a sidecar on a symbol. Especially if we're crafting a word mark for our client, there's usually a modest chance to embellish. Maybe a font will signify strict, or formal, or welcoming qualities, but after all, a name or a word pretty much means what it means, right? Well, maybe. This year, there seems to be a rash of designers taking control of consumer interpretation of a name, with the liberal use of a punctuation. You might ask, a single word with multiple meanings? Really? Really. This last year has been notable for the refreshing creation of numerous brands punctuated into an alternate state of meaning. Lingua files may be simultaneously cringing and tiering their support, depending on the application, but planting a fleck or a speck at the end of a name is much more than a stylish affliction.
