Small and simple

- Awaiting a sightseeing tour in Boston, the famous Duck Tour, picked up this small booklet, was looking through it and saw a couple things that I thought were worth pointing out. Looking primarily at the editorial spread on the left, or the editorial page on the left. Standard three column page, nothing you haven't seen before. Nothing you haven't done, I'm sure. The key here is its simplicity. This is a super small page, so you need to keep the type and the layout super simple, which is exactly what's been done here. The text is set in Myriad, all one size. The cation is in Myriad Bold. It's the same size as the text. That is unusual. In a typical layout like this you'd see either a contrasting caption face, or you'd see it smaller. The page folio, the same way. The page number is in Myriad Bold. The year is in Myriad Bold Condensed. Same size as the text. Again, that's unusual, but it keeps the page very simple.
