(upbeat music) - [Stefan] Have you ever watched something that moved you? Only to find out, it was created specifically to sell you something that you don't want. How did you feel? Manipulated, right? - [Man] Mm hmm. - See that's the great conflict with designing for emotion. That there's a fine line between empathy and manipulation. See, empathy is the true and unselfish understanding of how someone else feels. Notice the unselfish part of that definition. When we aren't moved emotionally and we find out that the source of that movement was selfish. That's when we drop the nope wall. - [Woman] Mountain or ocean, which would you chose? - [Man] Hmm the ocean, I love the ocean. - Yeah, I love the ocean.
