Common evolutionary solvers
- [Instructor] Galapagos is an evolutionary solver that has been included as part of Grasshopper since at least 2011. Galapagos is well-documented and a powerful tool that is relatively easy to learn and use. But alternative solvers have also been developed by the Grasshopper community. This video will review some of those alternatives noting their respective intent, license, and ease of use. I can find a list of evolutionary solver options by searching evolution on the food4Rhino website which is a list of Rhino plugins. When reviewing and selecting plugins, make sure you check the license and version. Some plugin license limit commercial use and some plugins are not yet at version one which means you use at your own risk. Let's look at a few of these options. Biomorpher is an interesting tool designed to let you see the varied solutions generated algorithmically and select the fittest yourself.
