- [Instructor] The inputs or parameters for a model are the features of the design that can be adjusted. In a generative design process, these adjustable aspects of the design are often hindered off to the algorithm. They define the design space the algorithm can search within for an optimal solution. The process of determining the design parameters is extremely simple for a simple model. A sphere, for example, has one parameter, its radius. As models become more complex, determining the best paramaterization is less obvious and requires more consideration. Generally, the objective is to have the fewest possible unitless input parameters constrained to the bounds of expected inputs. These goals are intuitive, incorporated into most design consultations. Imagine a meeting between an architect and a client about a new residential project.
