Leveraging NURBS: Solving on plane

Leveraging NURBS: Solving on plane

- I have my exercise file open already. In this video I'm going to demonstrate a technique of taking geometry from a complex space, a surface space, transforming it onto the Cartesian coordinate plane, and then transforming it back, allowing you to do complex operations on the plane. Things that would be much harder to do within the space of the surface. So let's take a look. I have a surface here. I have two curves here that are intersecting. It would be really challenging to find these intersections in 3D space and trim these curves, so I want to perhaps boolean these regions to get a single region. So I'm going to transform them from the surface onto the xy plane. So the first thing I want to do, is get the points, the vertices of these curves, these are poly lines. So I'll go to curve, control points, then I'm going to go to surface, surface closest point, and I connect my surface, take my points. Now, notice too that I'm reparametrizating this surface. This is typical if I'm…
