- [Instructor] Prototyping, ideation, concepting, brainstorming. Regardless of what it is called, testing out different ideas is a critical part of just about every architectural design process. Generative design is no different. In fact, perhaps the most powerful benefit of generative design is the speed with which new tests can be generated and evaluated because the entire cycle is happening digitally. Because the inputs driving the model and the outputs used for evaluation must be quantitative in generative design, it is possible to visualize all the possible solutions as a multidimensional landscape or solution space. Because we are limited in the number of dimensions we can visualize, typically, solution spaces show the relationship between one or two inputs in a single output. Which may be a combination of many outputs. For one input, it is visualized as a 2D graph. For two, it is visualized as a landscape.
