What is data?

- [Instructor] In addition to algorithms, something we'll talk about a lot while working with Grasshopper is data. So what exactly is data? Well, when we talk about data we're talking about plain unorganized facts. Data can be qualitative relating to observable things like color, shape, or size, or it can be quantitative for things we can measure numerically like length, volume or area. Data is often used interchangeably with the term information but there are important differences between the two. Data are raw facts with no context or organization and data can become information only after it is processed, structured, or contextualized so that it becomes useful and meaningful to us. Now, inside of Grasshopper, we can get data from a few different places. One of those is from geometry that we model in Rhino.
