- [Narrator] When creating a form, it's important to give your users clear instructions. If they don't understand what you're expecting, they might enter the wrong information or they might give up and skip the form entirely. If a form is complicated, tell them ahead of time. Don't let them get to the middle of the form and realize they need to go find documents they need and end up with the form timing out. For example on this page, they have an online form to apply for disability benefits. It's a very complicated form so they specifically tell you to gather the information you need to complete the application process and there's a link to get a list of all the documents that you do need so you can have them and you're ready to go. Another thing you want to do is not put a lot of instructions at the top of the form as users are likely to just skip them. One area where sites don't always do a good job of explaining what they need is password requirements when creating a new password…
