Setting up the base layout structure
Now, back in our code editor, with our email.html file open, we're going to start building our layout. Since most email clients don't support a full range of HTML and CSS, we need to use tables. Which is an older layout structure in order to get our content to work right in all the different clients. Now, this does pose an interesting challenge for responsive design as well. When designing responsive design inside of browser using straight HTML, we have the ability to take containers, such as DIV tags and other elements. And when we resize the browser, we can move those individual elements. Now, when a table size changes, all of the tds will get smaller but we can't actually change the relationship of the individual tds. They're locked inside of that table structure, so we can't take one TD, for example. And move it independent of all of the other ones. So, to get around this limitation what we're going to do is put individual content into full tables that have the single cell inside…
