Animate and video card settings

- [Instructor] A couple of things you might want to take care of when you start the program is to go under the preference settings and make sure that some things are working fine. Let me show you what I mean. So I'm going to pick a brush and not worry about the details. We're just going to get very quickly, brush tool. Here, make it fat, draw a line. As you can see, it really doesn't look nice. There's a jaggy edge to this. It's not anti-aliasing. So let's go, edit, preferences, and you should see some sequence of tabs. These will vary from version to version. But you're looking for something under OpenGL, full scene, anti-aliasing. Click OK. It may look different on a Mac or you might not even have this problem on a Mac but this is a common problem on Windows systems. So we have to relaunch. So I'm going to save this. And relaunch. Now when we zoom in, we see anti-aliasing. So that's nice, so we can zoom out and it still looks really smooth. So that is a very important first step to make sure that you don't see jaggy lines. There are issues with some older versions where you might need to tweak your video card settings. It's not something I'm going to go into in detail. But if you do, because it's going to be different for people with different cards, but there are anti-aliasing settings in various video cards, particularly Nvidia, which are very common. So if this problem does persist and that doesn't fix your issue, I recommend you Google it for your particular video card to find out what the procedure will be because that'll be a tweak inside your video card preference settings. And because it's going to be different for everybody, I'll leave it at that. But you should not settle for anything less than this kind of anti-aliasing. Do not work with this program if you see those awful jaggy pixels.
