Drawing substitutions

- [Voiceover] In addition to having our character's body parts on different layers, we can add more life to the character by changing those body parts on each layer. For example, the hand layer could have a hand that's pointing, as well as a hand that's forming a fist. In Harmony, this is done using drawing substitutions. I have my document 05 drawing substitutions, and what I want to take a look at, I'm going to zoom in. Just using my scroll wheel here. And I'm looking at the front hand. So I'm gonna come down to my layers, and if we look at the layer of the front hand, we see these little lines here. So if I move my playhead forward, you see that the hand changed, now the hand is actually holding a sword. And if I go to the next frame, it's holding the sword a different way. If we go once more, I'm gonna zoom out so you can see this. This is adding what's referred to as a smear, if the sword is moving. So for the hand, there are one, two, three, four different drawing substitutions.…
