Analyze an argument essay
- [Voiceover] In this video, I'll analyze an example of a high-scoring Argument Essay, that one of my students wrote. I'll point out what the essay does, and how it fulfills the GRE's criteria for a high-scoring essay. Okay, so here we have the prompt for the essay, and below the prompt, we have the tiny, little introduction that my student wrote, that's beginning with the phrase, there are several facts. So I would say this introduction could be improved by summarizing the memo a little bit more, just to show that the writer understands what it's saying. It's never a bad idea to give the reader a little bit of context. So let's move on to the first body paragraph. So in this paragraph, the writer shows critcal thinking by observing that knowing why customer patronize Movies Galore, and why profits have declined, will shed light on whether the recommendations in the memo should be followed.
