Area of a triangle

- [Voiceover] So to find the area of the triangle, let's we have a triangle here. To find the area of the triangle there's a formula and the area of the triangle is found by taking the one half of the base times it's height. Where do you have the base and the height? Well, it doesn't really matter too much in a triangle which side you call what but a lot of times we call the base the horizontal side so let's say that our base is this side and it has a length of 10, and the height is a line that has a couple of properties. It's perpendicular to the base, and it's as high as the triangles highest point. So let's say that that line was six. So now that we have the base and the height we can just plug them into the formula. The area of this triangle is gonna be one half six times 10 which is 60, or 30. So what if you have a triangle that looks a little funky and you don't really see what the height is? If I do a triangle like that, and I call this side the base, and I say that a length of…
