Estimation technique

- [Voiceover] So one of the first techniques you should think about when you see a new GRE question is estimation. So, in other words, just taking a guess at the answer before you calculate anything. Now this can be really helpful since when you actually get an answer, you can check it against your estimate to see if it makes sense and sometimes, you can even narrow it down to two or maybe even one choice by estimating. So I'll demonstrate how to estimate with a GRE-style question here. So we have the question, with gourmet jelly beans costing 16 bucks a pound, generic costs $12 a pound and we're mixing 50 pounds of gourmet with a 100 pounds of generic.
