Function graphs

- Sometimes, you might have to deal with a function on a graph. So here, we have our normal coordinate plane with the x and y axes. You see that there is a graph represented by the red line. So, if you have a function question with a graph, it might look something like this. What is f of 5 equal to? So remember, for functions, the thing in the parentheses is saying, "That's our input." So all we have to do, really, for our graph is look on the graph. If we input 5 for x, what is y at that point? And we can see, at that point, y is 0. So the answer is 0. We could also try this with, "What is f of -3?" So, if x is -3, that point, y, is 0 as well. So this is just another way of dealing with functions. If you have a function on a graph, you should be able to take your input and just visually look and see what the y value is at that input. So that's all you have to really deal with with function graphs. Just a different way of working with functions.
