- [Voiceover] Another important algebraic concept is the concept of functions. So let me show you the notation for a function, if I said, F of x is equal to x plus one. The hard part, I think, about functions for people is usually the notation, like what does it mean? We call this entire thing a function, but what is this F of x? It doesn't really mean F times x, it means that, in english if I kinda translate this, this side, the whole F of x thing, this translates to the result of putting an x. So the thing on the right is result of that, it's equal to that result. Another way to think of functions is kind of like an instruction. So if we plug in an x, and the x is kind of the input, so I'll call this the input and then this result is the output, which also happens to be equal to F of x, the result of inputting x. So, let's say I had an input of two. So two is our input for x and F of two, this whole thing is gonna be the result of inputting two, we can see from our instruction here…
