- So, the readers of your essay will be looking at how well you make an argument, but they'll also notice your usage of Language, Grammar, and Writing Mechanics. So, in this movie I'll explain how to make sure your writing fits their criteria. The first concept that we'll talk about is ideas. Your ideas should progress logically. For example, if you explain a phenomenon, or an event, then you later want to talk about the effect or implications of that phenomenon or event. You also want to make sure your sentence structure is varied. So, you want to make sure this happens naturally for you, so you have to practice. An example of a sentence structure that doesn't vary might be something like beginning every single sentence the same way. For example, if you're talking about the American Revolution in an example, try not to begin every sentence of that example with another fact about the American Revolution.
