Number properties

- [Voiceover] There are several number properties you need to know to determine how to do operations on the GRE. So I'll go over a few, so the distributive property, let's say you have three times x plus y. So if you have to do this, we're gonna distribute the three to both the x and the y, so we multiply it by both terms. So we end up with three x plus three y. Okay, so the commutative property this just means, it's just kind of a rule, that you can do addition in any order. So, let's say I have three plus seven. That's the same thing as seven plus three. Doesn't really matter what order I write it in. Similarly, if I do three times seven. That's the same thing as doing seven times three. Or another example of that would be if I had two times three times seven. It doesn't matter what order I do this in. I could do two times three to start or I could do three times seven to start, and either way I'm gonna get the same answer. So, another property you need to know is absolute value. So…
