- [Voiceover] This video, I'll talk about ratios and proportions, so these are really basic math concepts, but they're really useful, they pop up in a lot of real GRE problems. So, ratio is really just a relationship. It's also a fraction. So, I'll show you what I mean. Let's say I have a recipe, and for every two eggs, I have three cups of sugar. So, if I have a recipe or a word problem for that matter, that tells me for every two of something, I have three of something else, I can write that as a ratio. I can just say for every two eggs, there are three cups of sugar. So, it's just giving me a way to represent it mathematically. So, if I have a ratio like that, I can describe it as what I would call a part-to-part ratio. I'll explain what I mean by that. Part-to-part is basically giving me a relationship between the two parts. Then if I have a part-to-whole, that would be something like if I had four out of five dentists recommend Trident.
