Solution 1: Use the similar sound technique with foreign vocabulary
- How did you do on those Spanish and German words? The goal of this challenge was to apply the similar sound technique to help you remember the meaning of these words. The first one, piso, we see that it means floor. Now, when I look at piso I see a few potential sounds I could work with. The first two letters could sound like pie, so I could imagine a giant pie on the floor of my living room, or I could go with the first three letters, pis, as in peas. I might imagine that someone spilled a bunch of peas on the floor, and I'm slipping and sliding on them. The next word is abogado, which means lawyer in Spanish. I see the sound bo in the middle, so I might imagine a lawyer wearing a giant yellow bowtie. Again, the easiest way to exaggerate something is to make it really big, and being specific about colors is also helpful. The next word is lastimado, which means injured. I see the sound last at the beginning here, and I'm going to imagine a bunch of runners racing around a track. The…
