Special slopes

- [Voiceover] So there are a few slopes that you should be aware of that are kind of unique and special, so I want to just define a few of them here for you. What if we had a line that was a horizontal line? So let's say it looked kind of like that and the equation of that line would be y=2 right, because no matter where we look on that line, y is two, x could be anything but y is two. So this horizontal line is going to have a slope of zero because if we think about its rise over its run, its rise is zero, but its run is kind of infinity and I don't want to get too abstract here, but zero over anything is going to be equal to zero, other than zero which zero over zero is undefined. So that brings me to our slope of a vertical line. What if I had a vertical line and the equation of that line is x=2? That's a perfectly acceptable line. What if I tried to talk about its slope? In this case, the rise would kind of be infinite and then the run would be zero. That's a problem. We can never…
