- [Voiceover] As I've mentioned before, merely knowing your math concepts is not enough when taking the GRE. You also need what I'd call "math street-smarts" or math test-taking skills. In this video I'll talk about some ways you can improve your ability to handle GRE-style math questions. So when the new math question pops up on the computer screen when you are taking the GRE, you have to make a number of quick decisions. Because that question might be fairly unfamiliar-looking at first. So you might ask yourself, "Should I try this or should I skip it? "What concepts are being tested? "What could I do to get it started? "Maybe does it remind me of another question "I've seen in the past, "and can I use the same method for this question "as I used for that question? "Is there a way I can think logically "to make this question easier? "Are there multiple ways to do it, "and then which one is easiest?" Since many questions are fairly wordy, you need to be willing to read the question…
