Translation technique
- [Voiceover] Many GRE questions are difficult because of the way that they're worded. And since questions really very so much in terms of their wordings, certain wordings can start as new or unfamiliar. But certain words can easily be translated into math which can really simplify the problem. So in this video, I'll show you some of the more common ways to translate words into math. So here we have a couple of word problems. And the way that I like to translate is just to go from left to right. So if I said to you that 18 is 40% of what number, I could just write this as 18, is equals. 40% translate to 0.4. Of translates to multiply. Then what number translates to x. And there you have it. You have an easy equation to solve instead of dealing with words. So I'm gonna show for this problem over here on the right. The number of giraffes is what percent greater than the number of lions.
