- [Voiceover] So one of the easiest GRE math techniques to spot the opportunity to use, is variables in choices. These questions can be done using algebra, but sometimes it's easier to turn them into arithmetic problems by using a technique called plugging in, in other words, substituting numbers for those variables. This video will demonstrate that technique. So here we have an example of a question for which we can plug in numbers, cause very easy to see the choices have variables in them. So there are three steps to this plugging in technique. The first step is invent numbers for the variables in the choices. So notice we've got an n and we have an m. So it says a certain number n is nine less than twice another number, m. Okay, so let's see you, let's pick some numbers here. What if we have m be 10, m is 10. Okay, so what is that gonna make n? Well n is nine less than twice m. Twice m would be 20, and nine less than 20 would be 11. So n has to be 11 if m is 10. So great, we've…
