Creating groups

- [Instructor] Now I'm going to introduce to you a very fundamental concept in Houdini, and this is the concept of groups. And groups are used all over the place for all sorts of different purposes. I'm going to show you how we set them up here. So let's go into our model object here, and you can see now I've combined two of our objects from some of our different videos, and they are coming together into this merge node here. So if I middle mouse click on merge1 to get some information, let's see what we've got. Got a certain number of points, and primitives, and polygons, and then other information about this. But right now, basically Houdini looks at this as one geometric object. We've merged it together. Obviously these are two separate objects in space, but it's thinking of all of this as one big thing. So very often, what we have is we're combining data into streams like this, but we want to be able to isolate different groups of points or primitives to be able to then access…
