Overview of the Houdini Engine in Maya

- The Houdini Engine for Maya is installed with the Houdini installer and in this movie we're going to take a look at where that installs to just so we can know where it is and how to enable it if it mistakenly gets disabled. So what we'll do is we'll go up to the Window menu in Maya. And we'll go to Settings Preferences and then we'll choose Plug-in Manager. Now if we scroll down this list here towards the bottom, you can see we have HoudiniEngine.mll. Now in our session of Maya this is loaded in, but if it wasn't loaded for some reason, you can click on these checkbox and make sure it was loaded. Now up in the menu here we see we have a Houdini Engine menu where we have a bunch of different options. The main one we're concerned about here is loading an asset. So this is where we load in our assets. Alright, that's the basics of where the Houdini Engine lives within Maya. In the next movie, we'll load in the asset we created and we'll learn how to tweak its parameters.
