Particle system HDA in Maya
- Now that we've prepared our Houdini particle system as an HDA and export it, let's load it into Maya and see how we can interact with it here. So we'll go to the Houdini Engine menu, and under Load Asset, we'll choose particles_01.hda. Excellent. Now we have our Houdini particle system running inside of Maya. This is a really great setup because we have all the power of the particle system we've created in Houdini, and that's actually running with the Houdini engine. Then we have the flexibility of being able to use that in Maya. If we look in the outliner, we can see that a couple other nodes have been created that allow us to deal with the Houdini particles from a Maya perspective. So if we click on this import source node here, you can see that this is basically a Maya particle shape node. So we can use this to visualize things, and change colors, and do all the normal things we do with particles in Maya, and then that will apply to the Houdini particles. So for example, if we go…
