Understanding groups

- Groups in Houdini are a fundamental concept that are used all over the place and in the geometry world, I'm gonna show you how to create subsets of geometry that you can do different things to whether that's applying different shaders or doing different geometry modifications, just a really handy way to create a group of something and that you want to do something specific to. So first I'm gonna close some of these panes and then this time to create some geometry, we're gonna do this a little bit of a different way. I'm gonna create a box and put it in the shot. Just to be neat I'm going to hit the Parameters field and zero this out, 0 tab, 0 tab, 0. Hit P to close the Parameters window, select this box_object1 and hit I to go inside of it. So now we've got this box. Now what we wanna do is we want to create a few different objects, we're gonna put them in some different groups and merge them together and I'll show you how that all works.
